Samantha Halfen, MA, LMHC

As a Pacific Northwest native, I love getting outdoors with my family and enjoying all the natural beauty that surrounds us. We are truly blessed to live in Washington State for it’s scenery and climate, cultural diversity, powerful economy, and all the things that there are to do and experience here. Even though I grew up in the area, I feel like there is still so much to discover every day and I’m proud to call this place home!

I worked multiple jobs through college, paying my way and earning my Bachelor’s degree in Business Management back in 2004. Before graduating, and during one of the highest unemployment histories of my time after 9/11, I was hired on to work in the financial sector for a little local aerospace company.

Over the course of several years in my early career, I couldn’t help but being drawn back to an area of study I’d always had a passion for: Psychology. I wanted to see if I could use my gifts and experiences to help others. And so, while I was working for “The Man” I enrolled at Argosy University Seattle, completed an internship and graduated with my Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology in 2011.

I went on to work at a community mental health agency where I gained greater appreciation for those had suffered trauma and how such experiences manifested into mental health symptoms. I also learned that with caring treatment and resilience, people can and do get better!

Wearing many “hats” from the corporate world, non-profit mental health agencies, and being a stay-at-home-parent, I’ve learned at great deal about the strengths and challenges in each of these various roles. These experiences helped shape the person and therapist I am today.

I am happily married to my best friend and I’m a mom to two beautiful and very busy little boys! When I have spare time, I love getting out in nature with my family, we go on hikes on the trails around our home, camping, traveling and experiencing all that this great life has to offer!
